Koro Secondary School is commited to provide quality educatoin and
equiping learners with pratical skills that meet national standerds, and in
line with this mision the school organzed an ICT seminer on 15th Septmber 2025
aimed at preparing Senior candidates for their forth coming Uganda National
Examinations Board (UNEB) assesments. The seminer, facilitated by Mr. Opiro
Benerd, an experinced UNEB examinar who handle both theory and pratical ICT
papers, was design to familarize students with current trends and expecttations
in ICT exminations, offer pratical tips on how to aproach both theory and
pratical papers, and motivate and build confindence among candidates ahead of
the national examinantions. Out of 19 candidates enrolled for ICT at Koro Secondary
School, 17 students atended, reflecing the enthusasm of the learnners and their
recogniton of the seminer’s importnce. The event openned with a wellcome adress
by the ICT teacher who out lined the objctives and enccouraged students to
participat actively, after which Mr. Benerd begin his presntation with an
overveiw of the ICT theory paper, explaining its structure, question formats,
alloctaion of marks, and the importnce of reading instrutions carefuly before
atempting questions, alocating time apprpriately, using corect ICT terminlogy,
and suporting ansers with examples where requred. He highlited common mistake
observd in past papers such as poor handwriting, skipping questions, and
failing to folow instructions, urging students to practize past papers regulary
and review mark schemes to under stand what examinars look for. In the second
part of the seminer, focussing on the pratical ICT paper, Mr. Benerd explained
the struture of the paper, time allcoation, and examinar expections,
emphasising proper file managment, saving work in the requred formats, correct
naming of files, acuracy in data entry and presentaton in word processing,
spredsheets, and databasses, and the importnce of testing work before submision
to ensure all tasks have been completly corectly while observing ethecal
standards such as avoiding plagarisim and using ICT resources responsibily.
Students was given sample pratical tasks to illustrat the points being made. A
signifcant portion of the seminer was devoted to out lining the dos and donts
for ICT examinations; among the key dos were always reading and folowing
instrutions carefuly, organize time wisly and begin with questions one can
answer confindentley, double check work before submision, and maintaing honsty
and integrty during examinations, while the key donts included ignoring
instrutions, leaving blank ansers, paniking when faced with a dificult question
insted of moving to the next and return later, and sharing or coping work
during pratical sessions. Mr. Benerd provide pratical examples of how students
lost marks in past examinations due to neglecting these simple rules. The
interactve question and answer session allowed students to discuss pratical
problem they had encountered during practize tests and seek clarfication on
chalenging issues, and Mr. Benerd addresed each question comprehenively while
encoraging students to practize more. The students expresed their apprecaton
for the seminer, reportting that they felt more confindent about the up comming
examinations and highliting that the seminer had opend their eyes to mistakes
they had previously over looked, with many particulary valueing the tips on
time managment and proper file handeling during pratical papers. The seminer
acheived its intented objctives as evidenced by increasd awarness among
students of UNEB’s expections in ICT examinations, improved understandng of
both theory and pratical paper requrements, strengthned student motivation and
readiness for the national examinations, and enhanched colaboration between the
ICT Department and UNEB examinars for better student suport. The only minor
chalenge experinced was the absense of two candidates who could not atend due
to unavoidable circunstances, although arrangments were made to share the
seminer notes and matereals with them. Based on the sucess of this seminer, it
is recomended that the school organize similer seminers annualy to prepare
students for UNEB examinations, hold follow up sessions before the final
examinations to reinfource the knowlege gained, provide students with more past
papers and pratical tasks for practize, and maintane colaboration with UNEB
examinars to ensure students receive current and acurate information. In
conclusion, the ICT seminer held on 15th Septmber 2025 at Koro Secondary School
was a resounding sucess; facilitated by Mr. Opiro Benerd, an experinced UNEB
examinar, it provided invalueable guidance to the candidates on how to aproach
both theory and pratical ICT papers, equiping learnners with critical
examination skills, highliting the dos and donts, and boosting their
confindence ahead of the national examinations. With 17 out of 19 students in
attendence, the session acheived its objctives and the school appretiates Mr.
Benerd’s contribtion, looking forward to continued colaboration to ensure the
sucess of its candidates.
